Projector Review: InFocus IN24 vs. ViewSonic PJ503D

Friday, 11 January 2008 14:19 by admin

In this article, we'll evaluate the differences of two of the most affordable projectors, InFocus IN24 & ViewSonic PJ503D.

TV sets, flat-panel TVs, HDTVs, 42-inch or 52-inch LCD TVs, bigger screens... We always try the better to make our entertainment more satisfactory. Watching NFL, NBA, Soccer, Olympics or CNN News, or South Park, Family Guy or Seinfeld... Seeing each person in the show close to their real sizes in life... Feeling them as if they are at our house while we are watching the show...

Not all of the TV sets enable all these privileges. But... Projectors do!...

Here is a photo where I placed the two projectors on top of each other. I had to lift the devices using my "Digital Image Processing" book a little. Why? It's my personal choice of course. This way, I was able to project the image's top starting close to the ceiling of the room. (My ceiling is not too high by the way Laughing ~10 feet high) Believe me, your neck will relax once after all those years of watching TV looking below your eye level...

From a technical perspective both of these projectors utilize DLP technology (thanks to Texas Instruments for developing this technology). We will not go into details of DLP - Digital Light Processing; basically it enables a very powerful light source from the projector, that's why even when the lights are on inside the room, it is possible to clearly see the picture.

Picture Quality:

Picture using InFocus IN24 - Colors are cool, higher picture quality compared to PJ305D.

Picture using ViewSonic PJ503D - The colors are more realistic and natural, however a picture degradation is introduced.
